Straight teeth without braces
Do you want to straighten crooked or misaligned teeth, but don’t like how traditional braces look and feel? Book a consultation with our dentists in Erskineville to find out if you’re a candidate for Invisalign® treatment.
Invisalign® uses ‘invisible’ aligners that fit over your teeth and move them into their new position. These aligners are less visible in the mouth than braces, so most people won’t know you’re wearing them. You can take them out when you eat and when you clean your teeth, so you won’t have to give up the foods you love.

What is Invisalign®?
The Invisalign® system has been used to straighten teeth for 20 years. Today, over 5.5 million people use the treatment worldwide. The customised aligners are made from transparent plastic that fits over the teeth in a similar way to a mouthguard. They are designed to be discreet and comfortable to wear all day.
Unlike braces, which are fixed in place by your dentist, Invisalign® Go aligners can be removed when needed, such as when you’re eating or brushing and flossing your teeth. This means you won’t have to modify your diet or worry about damaging your braces.
Am I suitable for Invisalign®?
Invisalign® may be an option for older teenagers or adults who want to straighten their teeth without braces. Our dentists will discuss your suitability during your consultation. We’ll make sure you have all the information necessary to decide if this treatment is right for you.
Invisalign® may be suitable if your teeth are slightly crooked, misaligned or have minor gaps. If you have a more complex orthodontic condition, you may not be suitable for Invisalign®. In this case, we will normally recommend traditional braces.
How does Invisalign® work?
Invisalign® works in a similar way to traditional braces to straighten and align your teeth, but there are differences. Read more about each stage of the Invisalign® process below.
1. Initial consultation
Your complimentary initial consultation with our dentists is a chance to learn about Invisalign® and other orthodontic treatments. If you decide that Invisalign® is right for you or your child, we can schedule an orthodontic assessment.
2. Designing your new smile
Our dentists will take x-rays and digital images of your teeth that are used to plan your treatment using Invisalign® software. This calculates what shape your custom aligners should be. It can also give you an idea of what your final tooth position should look like following treatment.
3. Fitting your aligners
Your Invisalign® Go aligners will be custom made in a dental laboratory and delivered to our clinic when ready. We’ll check that they fit comfortably and provide you with 3 to 4 sets to last until your next appointment. Each set should be worn for 1 to 2 weeks at a time, depending on your individual needs.
4. Wearing your aligners
You should wear your aligners as much as possible, ideally 20 to 22 hours a day. You can take them out when eating, brushing and flossing your teeth, and you should clean them every night.
5. Regular appointments
We’ll schedule regular appointments so we can check that you or your child are wearing your aligners correctly, make any adjustments needed and provide you with your next sets. It usually takes between 12 and 18 months for orthodontic treatment with Invisalign® Go to complete, but this depends on the individual.
Invisalign® FAQ
Want to know more about Invisalign® and if it’s right for you? Read these frequently asked questions about the treatment.
How long does Invisalign® treatment take?
Like all orthodontic treatments, the time needed for Invisalign® to work depends on how much your teeth need to be moved. Your dentist will determine the most suitable treatment length for your needs. The average treatment time is between 12 to 18 months, but it can take longer for some people.
When will I start to see results?
Because your teeth are moving gradually, it will take time before results start to be noticeable. Some people notice changes after a few months of beginning treatment. You can improve the chance of your treatment being successful by wearing your aligners as often as your dentist recommends.
Does Invisalign® hurt?
You may feel some discomfort or pressure when wearing each new set of aligners for the first time, but you should get used to this soon. Generally, Invisalign® is more comfortable than metal braces, as there are no brackets or wires to irritate the gums and to cause possible injuries if they come loose.
What are the alternatives to Invisalign®?
If you’re not a candidate for Invisalign®, or you would prefer a different option for straightening your teeth, we can discuss other options such as traditional braces or dental veneers.
